IRELAND

I keep meaning to ask Mom if she is going to blog about our trip..... then I forget to ask. So, I am going to blog a few pictures. (Is "blog" a verb)?
We left on June 15th and spent a few hurried and hot hours in Chicago, and then after a LOOOONNNGGG delay at O'Hare we were on our way to Ireland. It really was a fantastic trip. We spent about a day in Dublin, and then the rest of the time we drove around the southern end and up into the western coast. It was picturesque and rainy and cool. Just how we like it. We were able to listen to some "trad" at an Irish pub...... had fish and chips more than once, and averaged a Guinness a day!!

Swimming..... Training?

We spent the morning at our friends,The Roster's, neighborhood pool today. In some moment of madness I agreed to do a Triathalon with a group of friends in August. So, today we met to swim. I must be the worst swimmer on the planet and I am seriously doubting my ability to do this without drowning!

Anyway..... the training has been fun, and a great way to make sure that I am exercising. The kids came along today and we all had a good time in the pool after.

Lick!

Scott spent all day Friday demolishing our downstairs bathroom. Three years of wetness have ruined the linoleum that he originally installed and the subfloor too. So, he is tearing everything out, and is going to tile the floor, and put in a tile shower!! WOW! My small attempt to give him something sweet after dinner last night was Scotcheroos...... These are like Rice Krispy treats made with peanut butter and covered in chocolate. Well.... I did not have Rice Krispys so I used Go Lean, and I did not have regular marshmallows, but I had some pink strawberry ones, and I did not have the whole bag of chocolate chips that it calls for, but I had some miniature Hershey bars in the freezer that I had been saving for Smores.........

They actually turned out pretty good, and the kids loved helping and licking the bowls!

Sweet Peas

Raisa stayed for a few days. She wanted to pick wild flowers. I told her that the yellow ones are called Sweet Peas. She said, "That's what you call me!" Then I showed her the Blue Bells. Later on she saw some and said, "Look at the Taco Bells."

Tooth Fairy!

Owen lost his first tooth today! A couple of weeks ago Scott noticed that Owen's tooth was crooked. We have been trying to convince him every day that we needed to pull it out so the tooth fairy could come. He was so nervous and did not want us to even try...... but guess who he let start it?? Nanny!! I was getting my hair cut and they were waiting in the van for me. Nanny told Owen she could take it out, and he would not let her. She told him, "well, it is your decision.." So then he let her try it, and apparently he was the one who actually pulled it out!! Very exciting! I'm still so amazed that he is now losing teeth, seems like just yesterday he was getting his teeth. The adult tooth is already up and in behind where this one was. The baby tooth next to the one he lost today is loose too......
Braces seem a sure thing in Owen's future.......
