Christmas Morning 2007

Owen received Capsella from Aunt Becky and Uncle Craig. Papa was helping Owen figure out how to build something. Raisa received a kitchen and she spent the morning preparing "the best soup in the world." We had a great day with Corrine, Scott, Owen, Raisa, Ross and Lindsay. During the day the adults played Cranium and Mah Jongg while the kids took naps and played with their new toys. Due to a snow storm, Opa was unable to come up. This was the first Christmas Day that I can remember where we woke up to snow falling and it snowed all day long. We enjoyed a fire in the living room fire place without feeling like it was really too warm. We missed Craig, Becky, Anna and Sarah. They are in S. Korea. Happy New Year everyone!

Challah

Owen's kindergarten class is having a Thanksgiving feast on tuesday. I volunteered to bring homemade bread. I chose to make a Challah, I just think that they are so beautiful. I had a bit of trouble with this recipe to begin with...... it would not rise. I think that it turned out pretty good. So good in fact, that I have another one rising on the counter right now to take with us to Iowa for Thanksgiving!

Owen's 6th Birthday Party

On Sunday, November 18th, we had a birthday party for Owen. We will be in Iowa this year for Thanksgiving, and Owen's birthday will be while we are gone. We invited three of Owen's friends, Nanny and Papa, Opa, Uncle Ross and a friend for Raisa. (Owen's idea). Owen requested a black spider cake..... we compromised and I made a red velvet cake with a black web! The kids made their own english muffin pizzas for lunch. While they were baking they went outside and played the drop the clothspin in the bottle game. After lunch we did a Spiderman pinata and then opened presents. Then they made there own sundaes and we had cake! I think that everyone had a great time. We were SO lucky that the weather cooperated. It was in the 60's and beautiful........ unbelieveable for Noveber. We even put up the Christmas lights on saturday it has been so nice. I'll post a few more pictures of the party. They are not all fitting on this one.

Halloween Night!

Mom spent the day with us on Halloween. We had a great day going to Owen's Halloween party at school, and getting ready for the fun evening. We had "Worms and Eyeballs" (spaghetti and meatballs) for dinner and went trick or treating. The kids had so much fun. This year we were able to wait on the sidewalk, and did not have to escort them to each door! Big deal!
Here is picture of Owen's pumpkin that he carved all by himself!

Owen and Raisa enjoy some of the haunted gingerbread house we put together.

Pumpkin Carving Party

The Sunday before Halloween we had a Pumpkin Carving Party. We had spectacular weather and set up tables in the backyard to carve pumpkins. We had TONS of yummy food, and several fun crafts. The kids made their own slime, did footprint ghosts, lollipop spiders, and bobbed for apples. It was lots of fun and we hope to make it an annual tradition!
